The Theme and Background

As an African Canadian children’s author, I write stories that reflect the richness of African culture, identity, and community life. My books are designed for young readers aged 4 to 10, with themes that promote self-worth, belonging, and cross-cultural understanding. Titles like I Am Me, I Am One, My African Teacher, Never Left, and Fafa’s Swimming Pool use simple language, vivid imagery, and gentle storytelling to help children connect with who they are while discovering the beauty in others.

What makes my work unique is the authentic voice I bring to each story, drawing from my own lived experiences and cultural heritage. I blend African oral traditions with relatable, everyday moments that resonate across generations and backgrounds. My books are more than stories; they are cultural bridges, affirmations of identity, and invitations to celebrate the values of love, respect, and resilience in every child’s life.
